Library plans December book discussions

Jackson County Public Library book discussion groups plan to gather virtually to discuss book themes, writing styles, characters and more this month.

Books are available to borrow using the online platforms hoopla or Libby/OverDrive or at the Seymour and Crothersville libraries.

The Tuesday Night Book Club meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. Members will discuss their monthly book Dec. 8 in the video chat program Zoom. Information Services Manager Janet Hensen will lead the review of “The Queen’s Secret" by Karen Harper.

The book discussion group at the Crothersville Library, which meets on the third Wednesday of each month, also will meet using Zoom. Members will gather virtually and share their thoughts on “The 13th Gift” by Joanne Huist at 6 p.m. Dec. 16.

Register at myjclibrary.org/events to be sent an invitation to both programs. Participants can use Zoom from a computer at zoom.us or download the free app Zoom Cloud Meetings on a phone or tablet from the app store. An email is required for participants to receive a login to the programs. If participants do not have an email, they should call 812-523-4636 (Seymour) or 812-793-2927 (Crothersville) to request the login.

The virtual book discussion group Book It! is available for teens and adults through Facebook. Join Book It! at facebook.com/groups/3085051588218685 for health tips, to share recipes or your run and discuss a book through a Facebook event on the fourth Thursday of each month.

Information Services Clerk Hillary Pacheco will post to the group several times weekly and facilitate the online discussion of "The Gilded Wolves" by Roshani Chokshi on Dec. 22.

Anyone interested in book discussion groups may call information services at 812-523-4636 to find out more about joining a book discussion group at the library.
