Members of Jackson County Lions Club have been busy this fall conducting vision screenings at schools.
Lions Clubs participating this year were Seymour Noon, Brownstown, Medora Community and Pershing Township.
The state has approved the Indiana Lions to conduct the vision screenings. All screeners have been certified, and they practice extensive social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a news release from Past District Governor Frank Ruane.
In Jackson County, the Lions completed 2,345 vision screenings.
The Lions also participate in KidSight screenings, which are sponsored by the Indiana Eye Bank. This screening is for preschool and child care facilities with children 5 months and up. This program is continuing throughout the year.
Ruane is the Indiana Lions Vision Services chairman for the counties of Jackson, Brown, Monroe, Sullivan, Green, Knox, Daviess, Martin, Lawrence, Washington, Orange, Dubois, Pike, Gibson, Posey, Vanderburgh, Warrick, Spencer, Perry, Crawford, Harrison and Floyd.
