The Jackson County Public Library will present Jim Gill in concert Dec. 7.

The program will be posted on the library’s Facebook page at 10 a.m. with a link to the library’s YouTube channel, which can be accessed until the end of the day Dec. 9. Click the "Subscribe" button on the library’s YouTube channel and the notification bell icon to stay caught up with the library’s virtual programs.

Gill’s songs and musical books are often shared during storytimes at libraries throughout Indiana. He calls his creations “music play.” They are musical games that inspire children and the adults who love and care for them to join in the fun by actively singing, clapping and dancing along.

Children need to move and play, and Gill’s specialty is to create songs that are an invitation to play. His concert will provide everyone a chance to experience the joy that singing and playing together brings.

Gill is a musician, an author and a child development specialist. His recordings and picture books with musical themes have received honors and awards from the American Library Association and other organizations.

Gill completed his graduate studies in child development at Erikson Institute of Chicago with a special emphasis on the study of play. For this reason, each of his recordings and books is created as an opportunity for playful interactions between a child and a caring adult.
