VALLONIA

Vivian B. Bowers, 103, of Vallonia died at 4:40 a.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Schneck Medical Center. She was born in Medora on June 29, 1917 to the late John Westley Shelton & Grace Elizabeth Hamilton Shelton. On November 7, 1936, in Brownstown she married Leonard O. Bowers and he preceded her in death on May 12, 1989. Vivian was a member of the Vallonia Christian Church and had been very active in the ladies group “Christian Companions.” She was also a former volunteer at the Hoosier Christian Village. Vivian loved to garden, do yard work, and sew and quilt.

Survivors include her children, Patricia Starr of Vallonia, Ladonna Kay Barnard of Seymour, Deborah Chadwick of Greenwood, and Roger Bowers of Seymour; grandchildren, Ray Dyas, Billy Jack Lowery, Patty Branch, Melody Miles, Julia Bryant, Lisa Growe, Jeffrey Todd Chadwick, Aileen Pack, Loreen Starky, Angie Assman, Rhea Dawn Goen, Ramie Danielle Burns, & R. Dennis Bowers; numerous great, great great, & great great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son?Jerry Bowers, brothers?Raymond, Irvin “Buck”, William Talmadge, Vincent, & Carol Dean Shelton, sisters?Flossie Hopkins, Jewell Waskom, & Wilma Branaman.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, November 16, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Vallonia Christian Church with Chris Criminger officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. Burial will take place at the Vallonia Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Vallonia Christian Church.
