Developmental Services Inc. will celebrate providing services and supports for 45 years on Wednesday.

In the early years, clients were primarily served in day services, including training and work activities, with a few individuals employed in local industries. The agency also served several children with preschool services and in recreation programs. A few group homes were opened to provide residential supports for adults with disabilities.

DSI now provides a vast array of services and supports to hundreds of individuals with disabilities of all ages in more than 40 Hoosier counties.

Current services and supports include exploration opportunities and experiences in facility and community settings, supported community employment, school to work transition, volunteer opportunities, in-home services such as respite and supported living, group home living, preschool, and early intervention therapy programs such as First Steps.

As part of the celebration, DSI is launching a 45 Days of Giving campaign highlighting the history of DSI, clients, staff and the organizations and employers that have supported DSI from the beginning.

Donations to DSI will directly impact the clients served every day.

You can designate your gift to the following funds: Client enhancement, the Rising Star Creations Art Studio or the COVID-19 and client emergency fund.

To follow the 45 Days of Giving, starting Wednesday, you may visit facebook.com/developmentalservicesinc on Facebook or dsi_indiana on Instrgram.

Donations of $45 or any other amount will help continue the DSI mission for another 45 years. Donations can be made at dsiservices.org, by calling Claire Hirsch at 800-745-7686 or by mail to 2920 10th St., Columbus, IN 47201.
