A 34-year-old Seymour woman faces potential charges of resisting arrest and leaving the scene of a property damage accident after fleeing from a traffic stop Saturday, police report.

The woman was stopped at about 6:45 p.m. in the 600 block of East Tipton Street for failing to turn her headlights on, according to a report from Seymour Police Department Assistant Chief Greg O’Brien.

When asked for her driver’s license, the woman said she didn’t have one, and when asked for her registration, she said the Oldsmobile Cutlass did not belong to her, police said.

O’Brien said he then asked the woman to exit the vehicle, which is when she drove away.

During the ensuing chase, O’Brien said the women drove into the parking lot of the Circle K convenience store, where she struck a minivan.

She then drove into Hilltop Trailer Park in the 100 block of South O’Brien Street.

While fleeing from police at the trailer park, the woman took a corner and struck a patrol car, police said.

She then left the trailer park and drove through the parking lot of Jackson County Emergency Medical Services at Reliance Avenue and Bush Street.

The woman then drove back through the gas station parking lot, causing many to scramble out of her way, and eventually back into Hilltop Trailer Park, O’Brien said.

The woman’s vehicle came to a stop at one point, and officers left their vehicles and attempted to get her to leave her vehicle, but she drove off again.

She then drove toward stop sticks put down by police but stopped and backed into a patrol car at the entrance to the mobile home park.

At that point, she drove forward, striking yet another patrol car, and drove through the stop sticks and east on Tipton Street.

The woman then turned around in the parking lot of Old National Bank in the 1100 block of East Tipton Street. From there, she traveled back west on Tipton Street and turned on north on Bush Street and east on Reliance Avenue before entering the east of Hilltop Trailer Park.

The vehicle then came to a stop in front of Lot 51. The woman opened the driver’s door after an officer approached the car. She was removed from the vehicle and taken to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour for evaluation.

While she has yet to be arrested, police said the woman faces one count of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and four counts of leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
