The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a flood watch for portions of central, south central, southeast and southwest Indiana.

That includes Jackson, Bartholomew, Decatur, Brown, Lawrence, Monroe, Jennings, Daviess, Greene, Knox and Martin counties.

The watch went into effect Wednesday evening and goes through this afternoon.

Persistent moderate to at times heavy rain was expected Wednesday night and this morning across the southern counties of central Indiana.

Rainfall totals of 2 to 3 inches with local amounts of 3 to 4 inches are possible. Flooding of roads and low-lying areas is possible, too.
