Fear Fair offers kid-friendly event

Fear Fair will offer a special kids event next week to give children a safe alternative for trick or treating.

Families can visit the Seymour haunted house at 800 A Ave. East in the Freeman Field Industrial Park in Seymour from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 29 for a lights-on, scare-free tour of the facility, candy and photo opportunities.

Tickets are $5 for two adults and up to three children and must be purchased online at fearfair.com prior to the event. Only 200 tickets are available, and organizers expect the event to sell out quickly.

Anyone age 2 and older must wear a face mask, and temperature checks and symptom screenings will be conducted before anyone can enter.

“We are dedicated to preserving an important Halloween experience for area kids while ensuring a safe event in the COVID-19 era,” Fear Fair Director Brett Hays said. “We submitted a 16-page public health protection plan back in August to the local health department, and we have worked tirelessly to ensure the safety of our guests this season.”

Fear Fair has been in operation for 20 years and encompasses more than 20,000 square feet in the Freeman Field Industrial Park. It attracts nearly 12,000 visitors each fall and also offers Christmas and Valentine’s Day events.

A portion of money raised from Fear Fair events supports the Seymour Area Jaycees initiative to purchase emergency automated defibrillators and other equipment for first responders in southern Indiana.
