David W. “Dave” Sharpe, 86, of Taylorsville, passed away at 5:35 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2020 at his home.

Dave was born July 16, 1933, in Anderson, Indiana, the son of Wayne David and Audry Americus Goss Sharpe.

On March 15, 1954, he married Marilyn R. Greathouse. She preceded him in death on March 31, 1997.

Mr. Sharpe retired from Cummins Engine Company as a superintendent. He served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged after his service. Dave enjoyed rabbit hunting and fishing. He and his wife, Marilyn looked forward to making crafts together and RV camping. Dave will be remembered for being a jokester with a positive attitude who liked working in his garden and yard.

Survivors include his son, David (Mary) Sharpe of Taylorsville; daughter, Margie (Tim) Fisher of Madison; grandchildren, Rexall David (Beth) Sharpe, Jennifer Nicole Sharpe, Luke Charles (Wenting) Fisher; three great-grandchildren and fur baby, Katie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn and sister, Joann Weddell.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Tom Collett officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the Bartholomew County Humane Society, Wounded Warriors, Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or a charity of one’s choice.
