Donations from the community are still being sought by Seymour High School parent Autumn Kegeris to fund a prom for SHS students who were juniors or seniors during the 2019-20 school year.

The annual prom was canceled due to schools being closed since March from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

All donations will help cover expenses, including renting the facility, hiring a disc jockey, a photographer and security and purchasing refreshments, decorations and event insurance.

Kegeris also is looking for volunteers to help chaperone and decorate.

The more money raised, the fancier the event can be, she said.

Anyone wanting to donate can do so at the Prom 2020 for Juniors and Seniors of Seymour High School Facebook fundraiser page. She also created the Senior Prom 2020 Facebook page to keep people updated and to share ideas.

Donations also may be sent to Autumn Kegeris, 342 Lee Blvd., Seymour, IN 47274.

The event, which is not sponsored or sanctioned by SHS, is scheduled for July 31 at Pewter Hall in Brownstown.
