Due to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendation to cancel gatherings of more than 50 people, Jackson County Community Theatre has postponed its production of "Ordinary People."

It was originally scheduled for April 24 and 25 and May 1 and 2 at the theater, 121 W. Walnut St., Brownstown. Officials aren’t planning to cancel the production at this time. New show dates will be announced when they are determined, and all season tickets will be honored.

The 50th season celebration and Jackie Awards event scheduled for May 17 also will be rescheduled. The new date will be announced later.

At this time, the theater plans to have the Jackson County Young Artists’ Theatre summer workshop June 1 through 5; however, registration is on hold for the time being.

For some good news, the theater recently had a new curtain installed thanks to a grant from the Jackson County Visitor Center and support from patrons. Officials said they can’t wait to show it off soon.
