Weather service issues flood warning

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the East Fork White River in Seymour until further notice.

The river was forecast to climb above flood stage of 12 feet in Rockford late today or early Tuesday and continue rising to near 15.7 feet by Wednesday morning before slowly beginning to recede.

By 7 a.m. Saturday, the weather service is estimating the river will still be at 14.6 feet.

At 15.6 feet, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department reports the following roads will be closed: State Road 235 east of Medora to the Medora Covered Bridge; County Road 300N east of Honeytown to Shieldstown; County Road 225W between County Road 300N and Slab Road at the river bridge; County Road 410W from U.S. 50 to Vallonia; Newford Road west from Vehslage Road in Seymour; and County Road 400E from Newford Road south to Shieldstown.
