Officers with the Jennings County Sheriff’s Department arrested three people on drug charges in two separate instances Thursday.

Two of the arrests occurred when county officers and federal parole agents searched a home on Private Road 675N, according to a news release from Chief Deputy David Turner with the sheriff’s department.

The homeowner, George Nichols, 65, of Butlerville was arrested after a large amount of methamphetamine and cash were located on the property, police said.

Nichols, who is on parole, was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia. Judy Nichols, 58, also was arrested on the same charges, and both were booked into the Jennings County Jail in North Vernon at 12:27 p.m. Thursday. They were both being held on $6,255 bonds.

Sheriff Kenny Freeman said he wants the people of Jennings County to know county officers will continue to combat the drug epidemic, Turner said.
