The Seymour Community School Corp. Board of Education reorganized during its first meeting of the new year on Jan. 14.
Officers re-elected were President Art Juergens, Vice President Nancy Franke and Secretary Kenny Browning.
The board appointed several members to serve on committees. They were:
- Franke as the Indiana School Board Association legislative liaison
- Browning as the ISBA policy liaison
- Juergens, Franke and Browning to the board of finance
- Joe Tormoehlen to board development and training
- Max Klosterman to the school farm and vocational advisory board
- John Kelley to the school athletic council
- Browning and Kelley to school corporation transportation
- Browning and Franke to public and community relations
- Juergens to the Seymour Parks and Recreation Board
- Jeff Joray to the Seymour Redevelopment Commission
Other appointments made were:
- corporation treasurer – Steve Nauman
- corporation deputy treasurer – Patty Mullis
- property, insurance and personnel attorney – Susan Sparks with Montgomery, Elsner and Pardieck
- corporation policies and guidelines attorney – Susan Bevers with Lorenzo and Bevers
- negotiations and personnel attorney – Michelle Cooper with Lewis and Kappes
- special education and personnel attorney – Susan Traynor with Lewis and Kappes
- workers compensation physician – Family Medical Center
- representative to C4 Columbus Area Career Connection – Brandon Harpe
The board also approved the 2020 school board compensation at $2,000 per year, which is the same as it was in 2019 and the dates and times for school board meetings, which are normally at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month at the administration building.
