Brownstown Central’s dominance against the Clarksville girls continued Tuesday night in the Braves’ gym when the home team jumped out to an 18-0 lead after six minutes and cruised to a 26-2 lead at the end of the first quarter and won the Mid-Southern Conference game 75-19.

The Braves have beaten the Generals 24 straight times.

“We started out like we wanted to,” Allman said. “We wanted to come out and to be able to pressure them, and try to turn them over. I thought our defense created offense, and we were able to do that. “

The Generals had seven of their 21 turnovers in the first quarter.

Maddy Hackman and Halle Hehman made 3-point baskets in the first two minutes of the game when the Braves opened up an 8-0 lead.

Katherine Benter scored 10 points and Hackman seven as the Braves shot 11-for-18 in the first quarter.

Kylie Perez scored Clarksville’s first basket at 1:35. The Generals shot 1-for-9 in the first quarter and were 3-for-21 in the half.

Ashley Schroer and Hehman had two baskets each for the Braves in the second quarter to help BC to a 34-9 lead at the half.

“We had a little lull in the second quarter and outscored them 8-7,” Allman said. “Five of our six turnovers in the first half came in the second quarter.”

The Braves were 15-for-27 and outrebounded the Generals 20-9.

The Braves continued hot at the start of the third quarter as Hehman and Benter made 3-pointers during a 12-0 run, and the Braves built their lead to 55-12 at the end of the quarter. Schroer had two 3-pointers and 10 points in the quarter.

“We came back out in the third quarter refocused and did what we wanted to do,” Allman said. “We had some girls get some confidence. They finally got to see their shots go in. We didn’t shoot exceptionally well from the 3-point line. We were only 2-for-9 in the first half.”

The Braves had 30 rebounds with Schroer leading with eight.

Mackenzie Spalding topped the Generals (0-7 MSC, 2-13) with 13 points.

Hackman topped the Braves with 18, Benter scored 16 points, Schroer had 13, Hehman had 11, Zoe Fountain added eight, Kelsey Wischmeier had five, Kalee Borden scored three, and Avery Koch added one.

Brownstown Central won the junior varsity game 46-8. Camryn Thompson scored 19, Kelsey Wischmeier and Jo Brittain scored five each, Peyton Brock and Andrea Bair had four each, Zoe Stuckwisch added three, Kalee Borden, Madison Stuckwisch, and Breanna Carroll had two each.

The Braves (7-1 MSC, 16-3) travel to Hauser Thursday and to Jennings County Saturday afternoon.
