A single-vehicle wreck that resulted in a fire led to the arrest of a Medora man over the weekend.

Jessy Dallas Gahimer, 27, was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated after an incident in the 3000 block of South County Road 1100W early Sunday morning in Medora.

At 4:50 a.m., the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and Carr Township Volunteer Fire Department responded to report of a truck on fire.

Police said Gahimer told them he was accelerating and spinning out on the gravel road on purpose.

Gahimer told Barker he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree, police said.

Gahmier’s vehicle caught fire after the impact. He was able to get out of the truck unharmed.

Barker was assisted by officers Clint Burcham and Aaron Wilkins and Brownstown Police Department Officer Ryan Cherry.

Gahimer was released from the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown on Sunday on a $355 bond.
