BROWNSTOWN

Jerry Howard McCory, age 79, of Brownstown, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2019, at Hoosier Christian Village, Brownstown.

Mr. McCory retired from Cummins Engine Co. after 30 years of employment.

Jerry loved spending time with his family, and also loved watching his grandchildren participate in their sporting events. He enjoyed gardening, spending time outdoors, and coaching and playing softball with his sons.

Born on October 14, 1940, in Jackson County, he was the son of Fred and Nancy Cockerham McCory, both of whom preceded him in death. On July 5, 1959, in Brownstown, he married Sandra Sue Norris and she preceded him in death on September 24, 2011.

Survivors include four sons: Michael McCory of Brownstown, Mark (Sherry) McCory of North Palm Beach, Florida, Marty (Lisa) McCory of Floyd Knobs, and Monty (Monica) McCory of Sunman; one brother, Neal (Sue) McCory of Brownstown; one sister, Randa (Glen) Skaggs of Brownstown; 12 grandchildren: Chad (Ashley) McCory, Chelsey (Brandon) Briner, Bryce (Shelby) McCory, Whitney (Jake) Shuart, Mitchell McCory, Brett McCory, Zachary McCory, Kendra McCory, Baxter McCory, York McCory, Charsan McCory, and Brilan McCory; two step-grandchildren: Jacob Ray and Lilly Ray; and 6 great-grandchildren: Madison McCory, Camden McCory, London McCory, Bransen McCory, Presley McCory, and Mayleigh Briner.

Jerry was also preceded in death by a brother, Jim (Carolyn) McCory; and three sisters: Barb Bennett, Joann Elder, and Joyce McCory.

Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown. A private family service will be held.
