NORTH VERNON

Mary Jo Gray, 89, of North Vernon, passed away at 4:49 p.m. on Monday, November 18, 2019, at Autumn Trace in North Vernon.

Born November 1, 1930, in North Vernon, she was the daughter of Basil and Ruby (McClintock) Barlow. She married Wallace Fredrick “Bud” Gray on February 17, 1951 at the First United Methodist Church in North Vernon; he preceded her in death on April 6, 2019.

Mary Jo was the 1948 Class Valedictorian of North Vernon High School and attended the University of Kentucky. She was a homemaker and housewife. Mary Jo was a member of Alpha Gama Delta and the Psi Iota Xi in Madison and North Vernon. She enjoyed reading, collecting marbles, traveling, animal lover and an avid UK fan.

Survivors include her sons, Kavan (Marge) Gray of Butlerville and Steve (Cindy) Gray of Richmond, Kentucky; grandchildren, Kate Gray of North Vernon, Mikel (Gaylen) Gray of San Marcos, Texas, Quinn (Emily) Gray of Butlerville, Cody (Meagan) Gray of Boerne, Texas, Colton Gray of San Marcos, Texas, and Morgan (Will) Fox of Lexington, Kentucky; great-grandchildren, Henry Gray and Finnley Gray both of Butlerville, Jax Gray of Boerne, Texas and Michael Malewitz of Chicago, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, William Barlow; and sister, Juanita Barlow.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2019, in the Vernon Cemetery with Rev. Marvin Wright officiating. Family and friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon on Friday, November 22, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Sand Creek Elementary Library Fund.
