BROWNSTOWN

Grace V. Ray, age 75, of Brownstown, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2019, at Schneck Medical Center surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Ray was a member of Brownstown Christian Church. Grace loved spending time with her family, watching sports, playing cards, reading. She also loved her church family.

Born on May 14, 1944, in Reverie, Tennessee she was the daughter of Walter and Lillian (Handley) Smith, both of whom preceded her in death.

On November 20, 1970, she married Joseph Higbee and he preceded her in death on January 1, 2011. She married Gerald Ray on February 16, 2013 and he survives.

Survivors include Ron (Davida) Pranger of Brownstown, Joy Wilson (Duane Wright) of North Vernon, Anita (Tony) Wesner of Seymour and Richard Pranger of Brownstown; grandchildren: Zachary Pranger, Derek Pranger, Amos Fox, Tara Fox, Aaron Fox, Kaylin Wilson, Ashley (Matthew) Wilson, Morgan (Ryan) LeBlanc, Megan (Michael) Keel, Braden Pranger, Brenden Pranger, Brooke Pranger and Karson Pranger; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers: Joseph (Wilabob) Smith, Alfred (Euretta) Smith, Omer (Linda) Smith, and Floyd Smith; sisters: Helen (Marvin) Johnson, and Anita Smith; brother-in-law: Melvin (Sharon) Higbee, and sister-in-law: Sue (Dave) Harris.

Besides her parents, and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother Eugene (Emma) Smith; grandson: Justin Pranger; and sister-in-law: Judy Green.

Funeral services for Grace Ray will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at Johnson Funeral Home, with Mitchell McIntyre officiating.

Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday, October 15, 2019. Burial will take place at Vallonia Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Brownstown Christian Church. Johnson Funeral Home is handling the arrangements and online condolences may be expressed at johnsonfh.com
