Guyeula Bundy Kern, 93, of Seymour, passed away in her room at Carmel Health & Living, Carmel at 5:00 a.m. on Friday, October 4, 2019 from the effects of a recent stroke.

Guyeula, known by friends as “Mike” was born in Lawrence County in 1925 to Harry and Lena (Elkins) Bundy and was a graduate of Fayetteville High School in 1944. She lived in Seymour from 1968 to 1996 prior to moving to Carmel to be closer to family.

She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Seymour where she sang in the choir and attended services and events on a frequent basis and was a Deaconess. She worked at the Crane Naval Depot during World War II, served as a school librarian at Fayetteville High School and a customer service representative at Sears in Seymour. She was a long-time employee in customer service at Seymour Manufacturing before retiring.

Survivors include her daughter Debra, sons Michael and Bill, grandchildren, Angie Thompson, Laura Zapp, Justin Kern, Joe Kern, Kern Wheeling, Jordan Kern, Nick Kern, Georgie Kern and Wyatt Kern, 8 great-grandchildren, one brother, James Bundy along with many nieces and nephews.

Guyeula was preceded in death by her parents, husband George (Bill), brothers, Charles and Herschel Bundy; four sisters, Helen Wagner, Lyoma May, Margaret Blanda, and Gladys Thorne, loving daughter Suellen Terry and daughter-in-law Mary Kern.

Guyeula will always be remembered as a positive and cheerful influence on her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Wednesday, October 9. Family and friends may call from 12:00-1:30 p.m., Prayer Service at 1:30 pm with Rev. Larry Tingle officiating, followed by burial service at Riverview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Seymour, in care of Voss & Sons Funeral Service.
