Traffic switches planned on the interstate

Traffic switches are planned this week on northbound and southbound Interstate 65 as part of the reconstruction and added travel lanes project in Bartholomew and Jackson counties.

E and B Paving Inc. plans to shift southbound traffic Tuesday back to southbound lanes from the 61.2-mile-marker to the 58.5-mile marker, weather permitting.

Traffic will shift back to northbound lanes from the 58.5-mile-marler to the 56-mile-marker and back to southbound lanes beginning at 56-mile-marker north of State Road 11 at Exit 55 (Seymour/Jonesville).

Traffic will utilize crossovers to maneuver from southbound to northbound lanes and vice versa.

Additionally, E and B Paving Inc. will shift traffic on northbound I-65 to southbound lanes from the 58.5-mile-marker to the 61.2-mile-marker on Thursday evening, weather permitting.

Traffic will shift back to northbound lanes at the 61.2-mile-marker using the existing crossover south of State Road 58 at Exit 64 (Walesboro/Ogilville).

Motorists should continue to adhere to the 55 mph speed restriction and use extra caution in the ongoing construction zone between Columbus and Seymour. All trucks should use the left lane for travel.

The project is expected to be complete in August 2020.
