Homeless shelter wins approval from board of zoning appeals

The Seymour Board of Zoning Appeals has overturned a decision by the Seymour Plan Commission and has granted a land use variance to a local developer to build a homeless shelter on the east side of the city.

A standing-room-only crowd filled council chambers Tuesday night with many people speaking in favor of the proposed project. No one from the public spoke in opposition.

The vote was 3-2 with Dave Eggers and Kelly Pifer voting against the request and Rob Kaufman, John Richey and Jim Myers approving it.
