Mrs. Nancy Inez (Hodecker) Johnson, 89, of Seymour, passed away Friday, July 26, 2019 at Lutheran Community Home. She was born in Portland, Oregon to the late William and Inez (Stamper) Hodecker.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 by Voss & Sons Funeral Service at Seymour Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dan Watson officiating. Friends and family may call from 4pm-6pm until time of service at 6pm. A private graveside service will take place at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Indianapolis, IN at a later date.

On November 23, 1953, in Portland, Oregon, she married Vernon Johnson; he survives. They recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. She attended the University of Oregon and is an Alpha Phi alumna. Nancy was a member of Seymour Presbyterian Church.

Nancy was a loving wife, mom, nana, mother-in-law and “The Crafty Lady”. She was a homemaker, she knit, quilted, sewed, painted, cross-stitched, beaded, embroidered — if there was a craft she did it! She was known by everyone for her Christmas cookies, especially her Creme Wafers. She loved to talk on the phone, drove Vern crazy! She loved her many cats. Her many friends meant the world to her, some she has known and kept in touch with since grade school.

She used to work at Kidz & Co. and Tuffs & Puffs. She co-owned The Back Door Crafts in Indianapolis. She demonstrated microwaves and Cuisinart’s when they first came out, where she met her “other daughter” Jane Elzy. Vern and Nancy co-owned TJ’s Walking Tacos, a popular booth at the Seymour Oktoberfest for many years.

Nancy is survived by her husband; children, Karen Johnson and Alan Johnson; grandson, Blake Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in her name, to either Don & Dana Myers Cancer Center or Alzheimer’s Foundation, in care of Voss & Sons Funeral Service.
