BROWNSTOWN

Mrs. Marilyn Louise Darlage, 81, of Brownstown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday at the Lutheran Community Home with her family by her side.

Marilyn was born in Seymour, the daughter of the late Martin and Esther Hackman Rieckers.

She was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church Sauers in 1952 and graduated from Shields High School in 1956.

She was a life-long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church Sauers where she had been a member of the Fellowship Club and the Ladies’ Aid .

On June 29, 1958, she married Richard “Doc” Darlage at St. John’s Lutheran Church Sauers. She was a member of the Tri Kappa Card Club and bowled in her younger years.

She enjoyed time spent with her husband and friends and dancing with the Brownstown Promenaders, playing euchre, and watching sports.

Her favorite teams were Indiana University Basketball, Indiana Pacers and the Cincinnati Reds. She found great enjoyment in life with her family and those very special grand and great grandchildren.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 60 years, Richard “Doc” Darlage, children: Gary Darlage, Sharon (Micky) Reedy, Brenda (Scott) Thomas and Terry Darlage, grandchildren: Ryan (Alicia) Reedy, Kelly (Nick) Williams, Tyler Reedy, Clint (Katina) Thomas, Cory Thomas, great grandchildren: Alivia Reedy, Adelyn Reedy, Cullen Williams, Camdyn Williams, Cooper Thomas and Tucker Thomas, and a brother: Donald Rieckers and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister: Shirley Rieckers, sister-in-law: JoEllen Rieckers and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dean and Shirley Schuerman.

Family and friends may gather at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Sunday, June 2nd, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at St. John’s Lutheran Church Sauers on Monday after 10:00 a.m. until time of the funeral.

Funeral service will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church Sauers with Rev. Craig Muhlbach officiating.

Christian Burial will follow at the St. John’s Lutheran Church Sauers Cemetery.

Marilyn’s family requests that memorials be designated to St. John’s Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Community Home, in care of Voss & Sons Funeral Service.
