New sectional assignments approved by IHSAA

The IHSAA approved new sectional assignments in six team sports for the next two years Monday.

In football, Brownstown Central and Seymour will both see major changes.

Seymour, in Class 5A, has moved from Sectional 15 to 14. The Owls are now in the same sectional as Franklin, Whiteland and New Palestine. New Pal are the reigning state champions in 5A.

The Class 3A Sectional 31 group has also seen movement. Brownstown Central is now in the same pool as Batesville, Charlestown, Franklin County, Greensburg, Lawrenceburg, Rushville and Scottsburg.

Brownstown Central’s boys and girls basketball teams have both been moved from Sectional 30 to Sectional 26 in Class 3A. The Braves are now in the same sectional as Brown County, Edgewood, Northview, Owen Valley, South Vermillion and West Vigo. Madison took the Braves’ spot in Sectional 30.

In volleyball, the Braves have also moved over to Sectional 26 from Sectional 30. They will face the same opponents as the basketball teams, as Madison and Christian Academy of Indiana move into Sectional 30. Northview were the state runners-up in 2018.

Crothersville, Medora and Trinity Lutheran will face some new opponents in Sectional 62 for volleyball. The three schools are in the same sectional as Jac-Cen-Del, Oldenburg Academy, Rising Sun, and West Washington.

There were no changes in boys or girls soccer for Jackson County’s schools.
