Margaret Fern Beesley, 84, of Scipio, passed away at 5:41 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2019, at her residence.

Born February 2, 1935, in Burn City, Mrs. Beesley was the daughter of Millard and Rose (Davis) Rucker. She married Frank Beesley on December 30, 1950 in Vernon. He preceded her in death on August 25, 2001.

Mrs. Beesley was a Foster Grandparent for 18 plus years, she worked in the cafeteria at Scipio and Hayden Elementary Schools from 1970 until retiring as manager in 1995 and worked in the literary program at the Jennings County Jail.

She was a 60-year member of Scipio United Methodist Church, a member of the United Methodist Women, Mary Martha Circle of Church and Jennings County Genealogy Club. Mrs. Beesley enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her sons, Robert M. (Sarah) Beesley of New Haven, South Carolina, Bernard W. (Patty) Beesley of Butlerville; daughters, Donna Kay (Ralph) Gasaway of Louisville, Kentucky, Trish (Randy) Brennan of North Vernon, and Penny Jo (Richard) Royse of North Vernon; sister, Dorothy Cain of Vernon; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter, Kristi Claghorn; brothers, Louis, John and Bill Rucker; sister, Cathy Holwager; grandson, Curtis Beesley and great-grandson, Malachi Longbrake.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, May 3, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be in the Scipio Cemetery.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Sand Creek Elementary Library for Book Purchase.
