Mr. Alvin L. Tracy, 82, of Seymour, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Hayden in Jennings County to the late Kenneth and Dorothy (Kelley) Tracy.

Funeral services will be at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Mitchell McIntyre and Dr. Joseph A. Roberts, officiating. A flag and taps presentation will precede the service to honor Alvin’s years of service and dedication to our country.

Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Sunday, March 3, 2019 from 12:30 p.m. until time of service.

Alvin was a member of Brownstown Christian Church for the past 15 years. He ministered as the organ accompanist at the Seymour First Church of the Nazarene (The Point) for 32 years, served as Sunday School Superintendent, Missionary President, Treasurer and Board Member. He received the Distinguished Service Award for his many years of ministry and service there. He also served as the piano accompanist for ten years at Trinity United Methodist Church.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, 1959. On August 31, 1963, in Vincennes, he married Patricia Wright, who survives. After retiring from Cummins Engine Co., he started his own business, Furniture Restoration. Alvin and Pat were foster parents in Jackson County for 10 years. He enjoyed playing the piano and organ, gave piano lessons and played the organ for hundreds of weddings and funerals. He enjoyed all church activities, working on antiques and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Alvin is survived by his wife of 55 years; children, Melissa (Brian) Lake, Saundra (Joe) Roberts and Cheryl (Russell) Ison; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brothers, Chester (Ruth) Tracy and Dale (Adria) Tracy.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kathleen Tracy; and granddaughter, Ivy Grace Roberts.
