A resident pottery instructor with Southern Indiana Center for the Arts will be offering a Clay to Tableware workshop in March.

A unique experience for those who want to learn how to create pottery pieces, Betty Johnson will teach participants how to wedge clay, throw pieces on the wheel, hand build, glaze and explain basics about electric kilns.

Classes will be from 3 to 5 p.m. March 3, 10, 17 and 24 in the Don Hill Art Barn at the center, 2001 N. Ewing St., Seymour. The class size is limited to five.

Students will have the opportunity to attend weekly classes to make two to four tableware sets featuring a 9-inch plate, bowl and tumbler. The students will get their choice of two Saturdays in March to spend extra time on the wheel perfecting techniques or embellishing pieces.

The class tuition of $200 includes all instruction and supplies. Arts center members receive a 20 percent class discount.

Preregistration and prepayment are required by Feb. 28. Email [email protected] or call 812-522-2278 and leave a message with name and phone number. Send payment to SICA, 2001 N. Ewing St., Seymour, IN 47274 or send a message to SICA on Facebook.
