Accomplishments this past week: The 160-pounder went undefeated in his weight class to win the Hoosier Hills Conference.

How were you able to perform to your fullest potential this past week?

“I’ve been putting a lot of work in the wrestling room, and it paid off last Wednesday.”

What did you do well?

“I kept my mind focused even though it was a late night on a school day.”

Do you do anything special to prepare?

“I pace back and forth, focusing my mind and calming my nerves before I step foot on the mat.”

Favorite drink: Dr. Pepper

Favorite food: Cheeseburgers

Favorite band: Led Zeppelin

Favorite book: “The Maze Runner”

Favorite class: Civil engineering and architecture

Role model: David Taylor

Best advice?

“A narrow focus brings greatness.”

If you could travel anywhere and why?

“I would like to go to Australia to see the Great Barrier Reef.”

Athletics goals?

“Qualify for state this year and next year, be the first to do it in over 10 years and continue my wrestling career in college.”

Brett Kleber, Seymour swimming and diving, senior

Accomplishments this past week: Kleber, in her first year of diving, placed third at the Hoosier Hills Conference meet. She also placed second against Columbus East. She set personal records on six dives by 26.92 points (Columbus East) and on 11 dives by 36 points (HHC).

How were you able to perform to your fullest potential this past week?

“Getting rest, staying focused and getting what I needed to get done at practice.”

What did you do well?

“I set PRs on my six dives and also 11 dives.”

Do you do anything special to prepare?

“Get a good night’s rest, eat protein and take each dive at a time.”

Favorite drink: Chocolate milk

Favorite food: Chicken

Favorite music group/genre: MercyMe, country

Favorite book: “To Kill a Mockingbird”

Favorite class: Food science

Role model: My mom, Courtney Kleber

Best advice?

“Always work hard and be open to trying new things.” “Choose to be great.”

If you could travel anywhere and why?

“Back to the Dominican Republic because of such a great experience that I had this summer on my mission trip.”

Athletics goal?

“Make it out of sectional for diving. PR at sectional. Make it out of sectional as a team in gymnastics. Improve my 300 hurdles time in track. Win the sectional title as a team in track.”
