Tigers earn SAC win

BORDEN — Crothersville opened its Southern Athletic Conference schedule with a 54-26 win over Borden on Tuesday.

The Tigers (4-3, 1-0 SAC) led 15-7 after eight minutes of play and 25-14 at halftime. The visitors bolstered their advantage to 41-19 by the end of the third quarter, as they coasted to the win against the Braves (2-1, 0-1 SAC).

Senior Piper Hensley led the Tigers with 18 points on four made 3-pointers, Maddie Riley added 12 and Makinzee Isley chipped in eight. Christian Knight led the Braves with 11 points.

The Tigers will travel to sectional, and Jackson County, foe Trinity Lutheran (1-2) on Saturday.

Seymour beats Austin

The Seymour Middle School eighth-grade girls basketball team defeated Austin 33-29 on Monday. Kendall Sterling led the scoring with 11 points, Brooke Trinkle had 10.

Seymour’s seventh-grade girls basketball team also beat Austin, posting a 34-8 victory. The Owls were led in scoring by Kendall Sterling with nine points and Delaney Thomasma had six.

Both teams will play at Columbus Central on Thursday.
