A 39-year-old Seymour man was arrested Wednesday afternoon on three felony drug charges following a traffic stop on Interstate 65, police report.
Timothy W. Shell faces a Level 5 felony charge of possession of more than 5 grams of methamphetamine and Level 6 felony charges of possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, according to the Indiana State Police.
Sgt. Stephen Wheeles said he conducted a traffic stop in which Shell was the driver of a 2017 Hyundai sport utility vehicle near the 51-mile-marker for a traffic offense.
Wheeles, public information officer for the Versailles Post, said he smelled a marijuana odor coming from the vehicle. Wheeles found 8½ grams of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to the news release.
Kristen N. Brackemyre, 37, of Seymour was a passenger and was cited on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
Wheeles was assisted by Trooper Seth Davidson.
A Level 5 felony carries a sentence between one and six years if convicted.
Shell was booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 3:58 p.m. without bond pending his initial hearing.
