A fire reported early Thursday afternoon destroyed a mobile home south of Seymour, police report.

No one was at home at the time of the fire, and no one was injured, Jackson County Sheriff Mike Carothers said of the fire at 1296 S. County Road 1060E.

Carothers said he did not know the cause of the fire, but it was suspicious in nature.

He said a car and a truck were seen leaving the mobile home, owned by Devin Bevers, shortly before the fire was reported at 12:27 p.m. Thursday.

Jackson-Washington volunteer firefighters responded to the fire.
