Sewing, craft retreat planned at arts center

Southern Indiana Center for the Arts is sponsoring its first retreat for those who love to sew, quilt and/or craft.

It’s set for 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 20 at the center, 2001 N. Ewing St., Seymour.

Guests should bring their project, machine and other needed supplies (i.e. iron, cutting mat, snacks, beverages, etc.). The arts center will provide breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee, tea, water, a 6-foot work table and a folding chair. If you wish, bring your own chair.

Since SICA used to be a residence, the retreat will be broken down into separate rooms, most holding between four and seven work stations. If groups are interested, rooms may be reserved.

Besides having door prizes, the arts center will have a fabric swap/tag sale in which guests can bring in unused fabric (fat quarters, one yard, two yards, etc.) and swap it or sell it to other retreat-goers.

The cost is $65 for SICA members and $75 for nonmembers. This includes food and drink for the entire day, 12 hours of crafting fun for each attendee and door prizes. Doors open at 9 a.m., and everyone should be packed up and ready to go no later than 9 p.m.

Registration may be done by emailing [email protected], calling 812-522-2278 and leaving a message or sending a message via the SICA Facebook page. Preregistration and prepayment are required. Space is limited.
