Volunteers of all ages and abilities are invited to a volunteer work day celebrating National Public Lands Day on Sept. 22 at Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge, 12985 E. U.S. 50, Seymour.

Work will start at 9 a.m. at the visitor center, and lunch will be provided at noon.

There will be a variety of work projects for volunteers, including litter pickup, invasive species removal, tree planting, landscaping, work on the Nature Discovery Area, cabin cleaning and building cleanup.

Public Lands Day is a great opportunity for youth and civic groups to do public service work while connecting with nature on the refuge, said park ranger Donna Stanley.

Large groups are asked to register in advance by emailing [email protected] or calling 812-522-4352, ext. 12.
