Jackson County Sheriff’s Department officers assisted a Greenfield man who drove his way to Seymour after sustaining gunshot wounds in Indianapolis.

Joshua Utt, 30, drove on Interstate 65 from Indianapolis to Jackson County before he called police for treatment of a gunshot wound to his leg.

He was taken to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour before being airlifted to a hospital in Indianapolis, Jackson County Sheriff Mike Carothers said. He said Utt is expected to recover.

Officer Brad Barker responded to the call made at 1:28 a.m. Friday in the 1400 block of North County Road 1240E.

Utt told police he had been shot three times while in Indianapolis, according to police records.

Carothers said three people in Indianapolis had been arrested for their involvement in the shooting. Those names were not immediately available, and Carothers said police in Indianapolis are investigating the incident.
