Virtual reality program for seniors planned at library

Older adults can experience virtual reality at 2 p.m. Aug. 19 in the Computer Classroom at the Jackson County Public Library at 303 W. Second St. in Seymour.

Participants can explore Google Earth, Museum of Fine Arts, Waltz of the Wizard and more. No registration is required for this free program.

Thanks to the Indiana State Library, the library will have an HTC Vive Virtual Reality Kit through November after recent stops in Brown County and Greensburg.

The kit’s components include a set of HTC Vive Virtual Reality equipment (including headset, two hand controllers, two lighthouses and cables, two tripods for the lighthouses, a computer (not wireless compatible), a keyboard and a mouse.

Funding for this project is from the Institute of Museum and Library Service under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act.

Upcoming Virtual Reality Days for ages 12 and up and adults will be 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 8 and 22, Oct. 20, and Nov. 3 and 10, and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 16 and 30, Oct. 14 and Nov. 4.
