Mr. James T. “Jim” Cummings, 92, of Seymour, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Covered Bridge Health Campus. He was born in Cortland, IN on November 9, 1925 to the late James E. and Elise Marie (Gremaud) Cummings.

Funeral services will be at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Tom Judd officiating. Burial will follow at White’s Chapel Cemetery with full military graveside rites.

Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in World War II in the South Pacific. On June 15, 1951 at Cowan Christian Church in Cowan, Indiana, he married Lois P. Heath; she survives. He was a retired Agriculture teacher who taught at Cowan High School, Whiteland High School and finally Central 9 Vocational School. He was a 4H Leader, FFA Advisor, and a member of Brownstown Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and White’s Chapel Church.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Cummings; son, Dr. Donald (Barb) Cummings; grandchildren, Amanda (Brad) Hoene and Jill (Kyle) Halterman; great-grandchildren, Zoie Hoene, Max Hoene, Lane Hoene, Anslee Hawkins, Liam Halterman and Lyla Halterman; and brother, Dr. George Cummings.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Marie Marshall, Ruby Kator and Lorraine Grant.
