Schneck Medical Center invites the public to a free workshop on legal and financial planning for the elderly from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Aug. 16 in the Schneck Auditorium at the hospital, 411 W. Tipton St., Seymour.

Lora Mount and Blake Reed, elder care attorneys at Voelz, Reed & Mount LLC, plan to discuss financial power of attorney, living wills, Medicaid and Medicare benefits, Veterans Affairs benefits and more.

People are advised to not wait until a crisis occurs to learn about legal and financial planning for elders, according to news release.

Creating a plan for the future now can help avoid much aggravation. The sooner you establish legal and financial plans, the better prepared your family will be.
