The Schneck Foundation plans to conduct a program to make the public aware of the possible serious health consequences of frequent acid reflux and heartburn and obesity.

Dr. Emanuel Nearing II of Schneck Surgical Associates and Schneck Surgical Weight Loss will be the presenter of the program, which is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mid-America Science Park, 821 S. Lake Road South, Scottsburg. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m.

Frequent acid reflux and heartburn affects one in five Americans, while obesity affects more than one-third of American adults, according to the foundation.

The event will provide information about the surgical options for treating acid reflux, including bariatric surgery and the LINX procedure.
