Seymour teen qualifies as state finalist in pageant

Ekaterina Cox, 13, daughter of Natalia Cox of Seymour, has qualified as a state finalist in the National American Miss Indiana pageant to be conducted July 26 through 28 at Westin Hotel in Indianapolis.

The pageant is for girls ages 4 through 18 in five divisions. Contestants compete in four overall categories: Formal wear modeling, personal introduction, interview and community service project.

The newly crowned Miss Indiana Pre-Teen will receive a $1,000 cash award, the official crown and banner, a bouquet of roses and air transportation to compete in the national pageant at Disneyland in California. She also will tour Hollywood.

Cox’s activities include Fellowship of Christian Athletes, swimming for Seymour’s swim club, a member of Merit League, and a member of USA Swimming. She also enjoys horseback riding, reading, building and drawing.
