Mrs. Amelia T. Taylor O’Leary, age 93, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on August 1, 1924 in Ripley County, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Rand W. and Carol A. Thomas Taylor. Amy as she was known moved to Jefferson County in 1941 and was a 1942 graduate of North Madison High School. She furthered her education in Lafayette, Indiana at Purdue University receiving a Bachelors, then finished her college career in Bloomington, Indiana at Indiana University receiving a Masters degree. Amelia taught Home Economics, Health, and Physical Education at Seymour High School for twelve years. On May 31, 1965 Amelia was united in marriage to Frank Bradford “Bradley” O’Leary at North Madison United Methodist Church. Martha as she was known by her family, dearly adored her family and close relatives. She retired in 1982 after teaching for twenty-four years at Madison Consolidated Jr. High School serving as a Home Economics, Health, and Physical Education Teacher. Amelia was a member of North United Methodist Church, 503 Madison Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, now the Hanover Chapter 525 for over fifty years, Delta Kappa Gamma, Honorary Teachers Society, American Association of University Women, and the Jefferson County Retired Teachers Association. Mrs. O’Leary died on Monday, May 21, 2018, at 11:45 p.m. at the River Terrace Health Campus in downtown Madison, Indiana.

Mrs. O’Leary will be missed by her step daughters, Sarah E. “Sally” Bird of Sequim, Washington and Jennifer “Jenny” R. O’Leary Wright of Thomson, Georgia; her cousin and caregiver, James Thomas and his wife, Valeria of Madison, Indiana; her cousin and caregiver, Marla Thomas of New Albany, Indiana; and many other cousins and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Rand W. Taylor, her mother, Carol A. Thomas Taylor, her loving husband of 16 years, Frank Bradford O’Leary, died, March 30, 1981, her dear aunt, Mildred McClure Thomas, died August 29, 2017, and her step mother, Josephine Spies Taylor.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at 10:30 a.m., By Dr. Ed Gotts at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in Marble Corner Cemetery in Versailles, Indiana. Friends may visit Friday from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Center, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
