Seymour boys golf coach Jim Hoffman said the Owls came into the Hoosier Hills Conference Tournament playing some of their best golf of the season, but that didn’t carry over to Saturday.

Seymour finished eighth after posting a 354 team score at St. Annes Golf Course. Floyd Central edged out Madison 313-316 to win the conference title.

“We didn’t play very well,” Hoffman said. “We’ve been playing pretty well trending up and had couple guys who just didn’t meet our potential. The greens really gave us some fits. Everybody has to play the same golf course, but we really had trouble with it today.”

Tyler Bullard led the Owls with a 41 on the front nine and a 44 on the back for an 85. Owen Marshall followed behind with a 41 on the front before coming back with a 45 to finish with an 86.

Ethan Dippold (47-44) carded a 91, and Hunter Browning (40-52) had a 92. Connor Hinton (48-49) finished with a 97.

Seymour has a couple of more dual matches before the sectional, and Hoffman said the team will use those to get back on track.

“We’ve got some time,” Hoffman said. “We’ve been working really hard at every part of the game, so I think we’re peaking the right way. We’re having some good practices, and we’re playing better. We just have to bring it all together when we come here.”
