Midwest Natural Gas Corp. is reporting that a scam operation is making telephone calls to residences and businesses telling them they need to make a payment over the phone to avoid disconnection of service.

Midwest does not call customers to request payment over the phone. If you receive such a call, hang up and notify your local Midwest Natural Gas Corp. office.

The Scottsburg-based company serves customers in Jackson, Bartholomew, Brown, Clark, Crawford, Daviess, Dubois, Greene, Harrison, Jennings, Knox, Lawrence, Monroe, Scott, Sullivan and Washington counties.
