Flora Katherine (Grable) Crockett, known to most as “Kate”, passed away on April 22, 2018 at the age of 97.

Kate was born in Hubbard Springs, VA to Martha (Ledford) and Jasper Patton Grable on February 27, 1921.

She married Maynard A. Crockett from Rose Hill, VA in 1939. In 1947, they moved to Indianapolis, IN, then retired to Tennessee in 1975. Kate and Maynard were both members of the Cookeville Christian Church near their home in Cookeville.

In addition to her parents, Kate was preceded in death by her husband Maynard; two infant children; grandson, Brad Thompson; sisters, Edith Wolfe and Grace Quarry; brothers, Robert, Guy, Endle, Lewis and George Grable.

Kate is survived by three children, Kenton Wayne Crockett (Darlene) of Sparta, TN, Marsha Kay Thompson (Jim) of Seymour, IN and and Rhonda Gayle Eleam (Jack) of Speedwell, TN; eleven grandchildren, Melissa Middleton (Stephen), Jenny Riddle (Jay), Kenton W. Crockett, Jr. (Liz), James E. Thompson (Wilma), Mark A. Thompson (Kathy), Sherry K. Holder (Bruce), Tim D. Thompson (Leslie), Troy W. Thompson (Missy), Ryan E. Hume (Amanda), Danielle R. Freeland (John) and Don Kipper House II; 21 great grandchildren, Ely, Greg, Mark, David, Lexi, Trey, Allison, Matt, Ellen, Korey, Grant, Kelsey, Blake, Katie, Derek, Camryn, Paige, Josie, Zion, Jonell and Anderson; four great, great grandchildren, Korben, Alek, Addison and Poppy.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 28 at Robinette Funeral Home in Rose Hill, VA. with the Reverend Jack Eleam presiding.

A graveside service was held at Lee Memorial Gardens, Woodway, VA. Memorials may be given to donor’s choice.
