Bulldogs win Seymour Sectional

Class 4A No. 3 New Albany defeated No. 4 Floyd Central, 51-45, on Saturday to win its fifth straight Sectional 15 championship.

The Bulldogs led 14-11 at the end of eight minutes of play before holding the Highlanders to just eight points in the second quarter.

At intermission, the Bulldogs led 26-19.

The Highlanders closed the gap in the third quarter, tying the game at 30 with 2:40 on the clock, but trailed 35-32 going into the fourth quarter.

While the Highlanders (24-2) kept it close, the Bulldogs (23-1) held on to the lead down the stretch to secure the victory.

Romeo Langford led the Bulldogs with 17 points and Sean East scored 14.

The Highlanders were topped by 17 points from Matthew Weimer.

This Saturday, Center Grove and Evansville North will open Seymour Regional play at 10:30 a.m.

New Albany versus Bloomington South will follow, slated for a 12:30 p.m. start.

The regional championship game will be held that night at 8 p.m.
