RUSSELL COUNTY, Kentucky

R.V. Oakes, 74, of the Jabez community in Russell County, Kentucky, died Saturday, April 23, 2016, at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Oakes of Nancy, Kentucky; two children, Traci Oakes of Lebanon and Tony Oakes of Seymour; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and five siblings, Drettia Miller of Brownstown, Sharon Brock of Medora, Mervin Oakes of Seymour, and N.E. Oakes and Clyde Oakes, both of Jabez, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Trisa Kohl.

The funeral service was conducted at Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, Russell Springs, Kentucky. Burial was in Military Springs Cemetery in Jabez, Kentucky.
