NORTH VERNON

Russell W. Eakins, 85, of North Vernon died at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon.

Survivors include his wife, Rhoda Eakins of North Vernon; three sons, Mark Eakins of Jeffersonville, Wayne (Kim) Eakins of Bloomington and Christopher Eakins of Nashville; a sister, Lorene Hodell of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Vernon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Our Hospice of Jennings County or Shriners Hospital.

Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service in North Vernon handled the arrangements.
