Mark Duane “Mad Dog” Foster, 59, of Salem passed away at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at his home. He had been ill for 18 months.

Born May 13, 1956, in Seymour, he was the son of Harold Eugene “Gene” Foster, who preceded him in death, and Ruth Wheeler Foster, who survives in Vallonia.

Mark lived most of his life in Jackson and Washington counties. He was of the Christian faith. He was a commercial truck driver for Hartley Trucking and a former volunteer fireman with Driftwood Township Volunteer Fire Department in Vallonia. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, construction and woodworking, and had a great love for NASCAR and local dirt-track racing.

Other survivors include his girlfriend, Jane Rappe of Salem; three children, Jason (Melissa) Foster, Melanie (Matt) McGlothlin and Payton (Kate) Foster, all of Scottsburg; grandchildren, Coleman and Hannah Foster, Hali, Lara, Mallory and Wyatt McGlothlin and Jude, Jonah and Jovie Foster; a great-grandchild, Ella Foster; a brother, Gary Foster of Navarre, Florida; and a sister, Diana Scott of Palm Coast, Florida.

The funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Johnson Funeral Home in Vallonia with Matt McGlothlin officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Vallonia Cemetery at a later date.
