Spring gathering planned at church

The congregation at Uniontown Baptist Church is organizing the church’s first ladies spring gathering at 5 p.m. April 16.

Christian singer, songwriter and author Betty Jean Robinson from Franklin, Tennessee, will be the guest speaker. She also will minister during the 10 a.m. April 17 service.

Robinson previously was voted female country songwriter of the year by Billboard magazine. But even at the height of her songwriting and recording career in country-western music, she felt God calling her out of secular music, according to her biography.

After experiencing many trials and troubles with her career and with her family, she rededicated her life to Christ.

She immediately left the country-western music scene and began only writing songs, such as “Jehovah Jireh,” “Jesus is Alive and Well,” “Ride Out Your Storm,” “On Silver Wings” and “He is Jehovah.” She once again was able to experience the peace she remembered as a young child when she first received Jesus as her savior.

Her songs and ministry reach far across the country into prisons, hospitals, churches and homes, touching hurting hearts and lives with the love of Christ. Her testimony of God’s love, grace, hope, joy and peace has helped thousands of people find their way to Jesus.

Even though she is now in her 80s, the message she shares is just as important as when she first started.

The registration deadline is April 9. There is no registration fee, but a love offering will be accepted for Robinson.

The April 17 service is open to everyone who would like to attend.

The church at 2623 S. U.S. 31 is celebrating 157 years with several ministry events planned for the year.

A Friday lunch is being served weekly for a freewill donation, and a Wednesday evening Bible study also is available for anyone who would like to attend.
