Two men have been arrested on false identification charges after separate traffic stops in recent days in Jackson County, police report.

The most recent arrest involved Alejandro Clemente-Gregorio, 45, of Seymour, who was jailed after being stopped for a traffic violation on County Road 340N on Tuesday by Jackson County Reserve Officer Scott Davis.

Clemente-Gregorio was arrested for identity deception, a Level 6 felony, and operating a motor vehicle while never having received a driver’s license, Davis said.

Davis said a records check through the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles showed Clemente-Gregorio’s Indiana learner’s permit status was invalid/revoked with an indefinite suspension for failure to validate the Social Security number he had reported to the bureau.

Davis said further investigation found Clemente-Gregorio had been “given” a Social Security number to use when he came to work in the United States, but it was not assigned to him by the Social Security Administration.

Clemente-Gregorio was being held without bond at the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown on Wednesday pending his initial hearing.

On March 24, Abraham Soto-Jaimes, 35, of Seymour was arrested after being stopped for a traffic violation in the 9000 block of East Enos Road by Davis.

Davis said Soto-Jaimes initially was charged with operating a motor vehicle while never having received a driver’s license, a Class C misdemeanor.

While being booked into the jail, Davis said an officer found an Indiana BMV identification card with a variation of the name Soto Abraham. BMV records showed the identification card was fraudulent, leading to Davis requesting a charge of false application for a government identification card, a Level 6 felony, against Soto-Jaimes.

Soto-Jaimes has since posted a $1,505 cash bond and was released.
